Davis Construction secured this £4.9 million project in January 2018, with works on site beginning 5th March. Kelvedon is a village situated in the Braintree district of Essex, between Chelmsford and Colchester. Plans had been in place to demolish the pre-existing Grangewood Centre care home to be replaced with homes and apartments which formed 25 dwellings, broken into two sections of works. The first section covered 15 of the dwellings, including an apartment block and entrance road. The second section was dedicated to the remaining 10 dwellings. Across both sections the general area has been landscaped and the houses on the site fall under one of three types.
Type 1 houses - two bedrooms with a study and living/dining area.
Type 2 houses - four bedrooms with an en suite and large living/dining area.
Type 3 houses - five bedrooms with two en suites, walk-in wardrobe, two living areas, large kitchen, dining room and study.
Internally we have delivered the fit out on each of the properties with all new kitchen appliances, carpeted flooring throughout the home and vinyl in the kitchens and bathrooms, and externally developed paved roads and car parks. Many of these houses also have off-street parking and detached garages.
Throughout the project, we have also been conscious of social value and considerate of the neighbouring residents, and we have aspired to work in a way that enhanced the local community during our time on site.
